This week’s color palette is city-inspired, combining the orange, yellow, taupe, and black of a taxicab!

Since we talk so much about other companies’ branding, we thought we’d share some of our own today. Here’s what we use for our simple, clean, creative everyday correspondence:

• Standard Business & A2 Kraft Envelopes // We like the dark, heavy kraft paper.
• Custom-made Return Address Stamp // We stamp using white ink.
• A2 Stationery Postcard // Our seaweed graphic has been clear foil stamped on black paper.
• 2-Color Letterpress Business Card // It’s pretty standard, but the design is clean.
• Custom Engraved Wood Flash Drive // This is how we send files to clients now.
• Washi Tape // These match our colors and pattern and do a great job sealing envelopes.

We like to call this look Coastal Organic. (Oooh, fancy!) The stationery suite has a lot of texture (which we love), and the materials (cotton paper, recycled paper, wood, and soy-based inks) are eco-friendly.

Overall, our goals were to create something UNIQUE that 1) wouldn’t break the bank, and 2) felt personal, professional, yet laid-back…just like us. Or so we hope.

What better way to celebrate the official launch of Butterfield Racing than with Nikki Butterfield’s win in the United Arab Emirates on March 3rd!? That’s right…Supermom Nikki took first place in the Abu Dhabi Triathlon just hours after she was emailing us final edits.

Congratulations to our amazingly talented and determined clients! (Yes, that is athletes, plural. Tyler Butterfield ALSO won his first race in 2012 on January 13th.)

Butterfield Racing is composed of a husband-and-wife team: Tyler and Nikki. Both stellar professional triathletes represented by Wattie Ink., they needed a new website to share their training updates, schedules, photos, and press releases with current and potential sponsors, friends, and fans. As a busy couple juggling training, racing, and raising a baby, the couple wanted to parallel the Wattie Ink. WordPress site so that press releases and news updates could be easily—and readily—updated by their writer Holly, assistant Aspen, and agent Sean. The solution? Use the platform of Wattie Ink., but customize it to Butterfield specifications.

Butterfield Racing provides a massive amount of information: biographies, schedules, race results, photos, press releases, detailed sponsor information, contact information, and more. It’s a dynamic website that keeps the Butterfield following informed and up-to-date. Above is a screen shot of one of many features: a lightbox pop-up window of a YouTube video. One of Nikki’s priorities throughout the process was to give proper credit to their sponsors. In addition to creating pages for them, we built a custom html footer complete with sponsor logos that change color on rollover and link directly to external websites.

Meet Nani, our pit bull mix. Once a quivering bundle of fear at the Humane Society, Nani has become an integral part of our family. She enjoys napping in the sun, chewing on tape and superglue without permission, and dismembering and de-fluffing new toys. The background of this card features a dog-bone pattern in the lightest of light grays.

* This special edition card comes with a coin envelope filled with hand-punched heart-shaped confetti and one blank, unattached pink banner. Think of it as a very simple DIY kit.
