a retro-tv-inspired color palette

Sometimes the hardest part about posting palettes is coming up with names for the colors. I’ve been racking my brain and I can’t come up with something for the bottom color. It’s more green than blue, but it’s not teal or turquoise. What would you call that?!! “Jungle Green?” The next color is sort of a dull mint green, followed by a mustard-y gold yellow, followed by burnt sienna, followed by something coral-ish, followed by…a very light gray with a hint of red (?). Well, whatever you want to call each of them…together, they make a nice little retro combination!

Today’s happy and playful color palette is inspired by a somewhat creepy photo of an old TV by Ajeet Mestry. Thanks, Ajeet!

WHAT ARE THESE COLOR CODES? The hex codes above are provided as a courtesy for those customizing website colors or looking for general color inspiration. They are not based on paint or Pantone chips. Remember that ink on paper will never look the same as light on a screen. If you like a combination you see, we recommend saving the image and heading to your local hardware store to find paint chips that match. Digital colors will change depending on your phone/tablet/computer screen, so be sure to color match with real swatches.
