Summer is a busy time for families, but for me, it's when work finally slows down. Since my schedule is a bit less hectic, I thought I'd start a little Instagram DESIGN CHALLENGE for my creative friends. Think of it as a way to take a break, get inspired, and make something just for FUN. No hard rules, no client feedback, and no pressure. Sound good?
Here's how it works:
- This challenge will last 4 weeks, with 1 project to work on per week.
- Every Monday, I'll post a random, punny business name for which YOU will design a logo.
You'll have from Monday to Sunday to create and post your masterpiece, then we'll move on to the next design.
- There are NO design rules other than "Don't intentionally copy anyone else's work."
- When you're done, post it to your Instagram account and use hashtag #logosarepun so we can all ooh and ahh. Please support each other by liking, commenting, and, if requested, providing a short critique.
- All skill levels are welcome. You can be an aspiring graphic designer, a student, a professional of 20 years, a calligrapher, a crafter, or even a photographer.

Happy June! Feel free to download and share with credit. :)
It's been MONTHS in the making, but my Branding Workbook is finally on press!
WHAT IS IT?
44 pages of exercises, tips, and guidelines for crafting a unique, thoughtful, and relevant brand identity.
Topics include: Branding 101, Typography, Logo Development, Finding Inspiration, Color, Style Guides, Pattern, and Choosing a Designer.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Creative professionals and entrepreneurs who...
- want to get the most out of their branding investment (i.e., SAVE $$$)
- are ready to dig deep to develop a lasting brand identity
- don't know how, when, or where to start the design process
- love to color, sketch, and doodle!
WHY DID I MAKE THIS?
First and foremost, I want to share my creative process with small business owners. I also want to prove to them how, with the right information, preparation, and hard work, they can HAVE FUN building a powerful brand without a "big business" budget.
This is not a book about getting anything for free; however, I provide lots of tips about how to work with a small budget! It's all about organizing your thoughts and understanding your business so you can communicate quickly and efficiently with your designer. My goal is to give you the confidence and know-how to invest wisely and create something meaningful.
This first run is VERY limited, so if you're interested in getting your hands on one, you can reserve a workbook during our PRE-SALE. Workbooks will be ready to ship by mid November (if not sooner).
P.S. Our shop is brand new, so please contact us if you have any technical difficulties. We did our best to iron out the kinks!
Just something fun... I made this for my mom because she insists that EVERYTHING must be on a coaster in the kitchen. (Yes, you read that correctly. In the kitchen.) Drips, spills, and splashes must be tended to immediately.
If you want to make your own, all you need is mounted black canvas and a chalk pen!
