a valentine’s-tablescape-inspired color palette

This week’s color palette is inspired by the beautiful work of a “floral sommelier” here in Houston by the name of Dahlgren Baker, owner of Olive & King. In a recent Instagram post, she wrote: “We’ll tell you which flowers pair best with the hue of your favorite wine and the chorus of clinking glasses, and when I tell you I’m only half joking it’s because I’m a sucker for the details…so cheers to always tryin’ to squeeze a little extra romance into any floral occasion.” I mean…color matching flowers to drinks? Yes please! What a fun approach to florals!!

If you’re looking to enhance the romance this February, look no further than this mix of deep reddish-pink, orange, peachy-pink, olive, and leaf green.

Aaaand, if you’re a spouse looking to order flowers for your significant other, let me give you a tip. The difference between chain-bought-bouquets and wedding-pro-level-arrangements is in the details: the textures, the variety, and the in-between tones. Sure, red roses are nice, but the magic comes when you mix in layers of orange, peachy-pink, and olive.

Need to see the colors in action?

Here they are applied to a roundup of romantic serif fonts you can find on Canva:

You get a sticker if you can tell me the theme of this collection. :) Happy Friday!

You can now download a free printable PDF of this color palette that includes values for print (CMYK) and web (HEX, RGB, HSL) - as well as the closest Pantone matches for coated and uncoated stock! It’s everything you need to recreate this color combo on your own.
