a watercolor-inspired color palette

I know I've shared quite a few watercolor-inspired color palettes, but I had to whip something up this morning to celebrate some recent news. After being told our dog Nani (pictured on Who We Are) likely had an untreatable cancerous tumor in her mouth, we received word on Wednesday that her biopsy came back negative. Nani's best friend died not too long ago, only a few weeks after we found cancer in him, so we had been preparing ourselves for the worst case scenario.

I realize this is a personal story, but we are just so GRATEFUL this week! If there's any creature on Earth that lives each day like it's their last, it's a dog.

Happy Friday!

Pie tins are one of my favorite free craft supplies. They're perfect for keeping messes contained, whether you're mixing acrylics, resting a hot glue gun, or dipping items in liquid gilding. The best part is, when you run out, you have no choice but to EAT MORE PIE.

This week's color inspiration comes from the paint palette (and brush) I used to make the Chain Letter Project. If you check out last week's color palette, you'll notice how the retro red-and-blue becomes a little more "edgy" when combined with black.

As a graphic designer, I spend most of my day in front of the computer...but there's nothing I love more than getting back to the basics. It's so refreshing to do something with a paintbrush rather than a mouse!

This week's color palette is a cheerful combination of poppy red, papaya orange, lemon yellow, and seafoam green.

a garden-rose-inspired color palette

One of my "work duties" every week is to find inspiration for Friday color palettes. Last Thursday, Andrew and I made a trip to Central Market, where a small bunch of bright, pinkish-red garden roses caught my eye. Upon returning home, my plan to take a few simple photos quickly turned into a 30-minute styling session with espresso cups and mini silverware. I love how the white and silver surroundings really make that beautiful red POP.

Of course, I couldn't publish a color palette of just red, pink, and white, so I added a light gray with reddish hues, a mint accent color, and polka dot pattern.

Finally posting a color palette with no pink. :) This beautiful parrot tulip was included in my mom's Mother's Day arrangement, and I couldn't stop staring at it. The frilly edges of the petals and the complex gradients of deep purple, violet, red, orange, and yellow were simply stunning. If you're looking for something BOLD + BRIGHT, here you go!
