a soft-grass-inspired-color-palette
Black + tan certainly has my heart. (All you have to do is look around this website or see my Insta to notice that.) There’s something about stark, modern, and clean black next to handsome, organic, and tactile tan that gives me alllll the heart eyes.
One of my clients recently requested a palette of beige and gray, and at first I thought, “Hmm, I wonder if that will be tricky because they’re both so ‘soft’…” but after I tried a few different combos I fell in love with it. (Wonder why!)
Above, you can see the colors move from black to brown to light brown to light warm gray rather seamlessly. By making the light brown feel “heavier,” you allow it to stand next to the light gray in a complementary way rather than a competitive one.

LIGHT WARM GRAY #EDE9E6 / ALMOST WHITE #F7F6F4
WHAT ARE THESE COLOR CODES? The “hex codes” above are provided as a courtesy for those customizing website colors or looking for general color inspiration. They are not based on paint or Pantone chips. Remember that ink on paper will never look the same as light on a screen. If you like a combination you see, we recommend saving the image and heading to your local hardware store to find paint chips that match. Digital colors will change depending on your phone/tablet/computer screen, so be sure to color match with real swatches. Also, I make up all the color names.
Happy Fri-Sunday! (I have no idea what day it is anymore.)
