modern easter egg decoration inspo

Happy Easter!

I woke up this morning and snuck into my studio to paint a few eggs. Here’s what I came up with:

  • Hand drawn floral

  • Pantone®

  • Abstract paint strokes

  • Mudcloth pattern

  • Polka dots

All of today’s trends in 5 little eggs! :) If you’re in a rush, the abstract paint strokes are the fastest (but also slightly trickier to let dry). The mudcloth was surprisingly fun to do because it doesn’t have to be perfect (and drawing on eggs is HARD)!

If you’re interested, here are the supplies I used:

Random Tips + Tricks:

  1. I used the washi tape rolls to stand my eggs up while they were drying. Worked like a charm, and they were just the right size!

  2. To keep my mudcloth pattern somewhat straight, I used Martha Stewart Crafts Patterning Tape to wrap the egg near the top and bottom to create a horizontal line to follow.

  3. I used washi tape to make that straight line on the Pantone® egg.

  4. I love chalkboard surfaces because if you mess up, you can erase white gel pen with a little bit of water. I originally wrote “PANTONE” too large, so I used a wet paintbrush to erase the letters, dry the egg, and rewrite it.

Here’s a close-up of the Pantone® and mudcloth eggs:

I know it’s not the same celebrating Easter without friends and family this year, but I hope you get a chance to do something fun today!
