tip 01.

Make the space spotless.

Ensure appliances are wiped down, floors are swept, linens are ironed, and mirrors or glass surfaces are free of water spots. Faucets should be clean and polished. Remove any clutter that is not part of the design.

tip 02.

Take scouting pictures in advance and plan ahead for staging.

Stage your space with accessories like ** fresh ** flowers, trays, books, plants, fruit, bread, or beautiful hand towels for powder rooms. Don’t go in blind - you’ll end up buying way more than you need. Use anything the client may have to cut down on what you have to bring in.

tip 03.

Record the process.

Don’t forget to capture some behind-the-scenes footage for social media content. See Ashlee’s example here.

Another thing to note about the process is that, unlike most brand shoots, interior shoots allow for live streaming via a tripod and iPad (or laptop). This enables the designer to select the best angles, arrange or remove accessories, and achieve the perfect composition for each shot.

In closing

By preparing ahead, you’ll walk into photo day with confidence…and walk away with images that deliver lasting value. Just be sure to book your photographer a minimum of two weeks out. ;)

Thanks again to Arter Design Co. and French Blue Photography for these essential tips, and don’t forget to check out this timeline if you’re planning a January website launch to show off your gorgeous new work!
